Follow the steps below to install and run WinVNC to enable remote support

Initiate Remote Support
Installation (Windows OS)
- Create a folder in your primary hard drive, name it WinVNC. If you are not sure which is your primary drive, create it in C Drive. (C Drive is assumed in the following steps)
- Download WinVNC by clicking here, save it to C:\WinVNC.
- After download is complete, run WinVNC.exe from C:\WinVNC.
- Click Next on VNC Setup Wizard screen Screen
- Check "I accept the agreement" and click Next on License Agreement screen (note: software is free) Screen
- Click Next (use default directory if you are not sure) Screen
- Click Next on Select Components screen Screen
- Click Next on Select Start Menu Folder screen Screen
- Uncheck both "Register and configure VNC Server for Service-Mode" & "Start the VNC Server in Service-Mode" and click Next on Select Additional Tasks screen Screen
- Click Install on Ready To Install screen Screen
- Click Next on Information screen Screen
- Click Finish and basic installation is complete Screen
Configuration (Windows OS)
- Select Run... under the Windows Start menu, type in
"C:\Program Files\RealVNC\VNC4\vncconfig.exe" -user and click OK Screen
- Click on Set Password on VNC Server Properties (User-Mode) screen Screen
- Type in a password and confirm it, then click OK. IMPORTANT: Remember the password. Screen
- Select the Desktop tab, uncheck all 3 options - "Remove wallpaper", "Remove background pattern" and "Disable user interface effects". Click OK to save changes. Screen
- Right Click anywhere on your Windows desktop and select New then Shortcut Screen
- In the location field on Create Shortcut screen type in
"C:\Program Files\RealVNC\VNC4\winvnc4.exe" -noconsole and click Next Screen
- In the name field on Select a Title for the Program screen type in
Start Remote Support and click Finish Screen
- You should now have a new icon on your desktop called "Start Remote Support"
Initiate Remote Support
- Locate the Start Remote Support icon on your desktop and double click on it.
- Visit this site again and record your ip address 38.103.63.16 (the IP address assigned to you changes quite often)
- Pass your IP address and password over the phone to the Active Improvement technician supporting you
- Sit back and enjoy the show
- The technician will shut down WinVNC when the work is done
Router/Firewall
- Port 5900 (default) needs to be opened for WinVNC to work through a router/firewall
